Now that I travel with The Four Bitchin’ Babes, I’m getting used to staying in some pretty nice hotels.  Still, there’s something to be said for The Super 8 – all the free internet, ice, and coffee you can consume, with no surprises on your bill at the end.  NOTE: THIS SONG NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ANYONE ALLERGIC TO TAMBORINE.

Troubadours and musicians – Guthrie, Dylan, Baez…they dispense wisdom. They advise.  These days if you’re consulting a musician for advice, you’re in a bad way. Take this lady up here in the picture. She looks so happy, but chances are if she’s a musician, she’s sleeping in that car.  Like, permanently.  But if  The Monkees advised that all you needed was love and Jermaine Stewart inspired an entire generation of young adults  to keep their  clothes on and STILL have a good time , I figure I should throw together all the things I’ve learned so that I, too, become a part of this community spouting off at the mouth telling people how to live their lives that probably make three times more than I do and have a nice retirement package. (Calm down. I know it wasn’t the Monkees. I just put that to tick you off.)

Song a week five is about Greenstamps. For those of you  under the age of thirty, it’s kind of like low-tech paypal and ebay. You save up stamps to buy cool stuff. Just ask your parents. They’ll explain it. And be respectful. Try not to laugh, please.(Also, if you’re from Philly, please note that Acme is sung with THREE syllables, as required.)

GOOFUS AND GALLANT

Religion might have invented guilt, but Highlights Magazine put it into cartoon form with Goofus and Gallant.  Going to the dentist as a kid was bad enough. Having to read about Gallant the wonder child just made the visit that much more miserable. I think we all saw ourselves as Goofus. Here’s another take on the story.

Muchos thanks to my friends on Facebook, for helping me get this trusty new North Carolina State song written.  I was quite close to uploading a song about everyone’s favorite sibling rivals, Goofus and Gallant (Highlights Magazine), but I’ve just gotten home from two dates with The Four Bitchin’ Babes in North Carolina.  The fine folks down there seemed to like this song exceedingly, but then again, there were drinks being served in the lobby. So anyway, I thought since this is a collaboration project including factoid providers on Facebook (and what fine facts they were!) me, and Ludwig somebody or other, you should at least get a chance to hear it! Thanks! Oh, and next week is Ohio, so if you have any Ohio facts, why send em my way!
